All the life that has come and gone since inception is best termed as biological succession, the reason there is life. Evolution devolution. When one form fails another takes it place. Seemingly anti-entropic building fertility while producing new iterations along the way. I think the longest lived species are those which intimately integrated into the biology with checks and balances.
Humans en masse no longer have biological checks and balances. We are responsible for ending the iterations (for now). Most of us live in a sterilized environment, the more resources one has the more sterile the lifestyle. The biology of the planet loves to eat those types and I think its why they are so desperate to experiment with injections and pills on the rest of us to find out what might work for them.
I sum it up using part of an old Kissinger quote: People who use money to buy food are useless eaters!
